Following the Alma Trail through redwood and fir forest into bay and oak woodlands, this route links to the Madrone Knoll Trail and climbs to Madrone Knoll, the preserve's highest point at about 2,400 feet. Shaded nearly the whole way with no big views, it's more about the deep-forest climb than a summit payoff; dogs aren't allowed.
