A 133,720-acre expanse of granite domes, semiarid pinion mountains, and low desert crossed by the Wild and Scenic South Fork Kern River through deep gorges. Visitors fish its tributaries, hike about 45 miles of trail, and follow the Pacific Crest Trail north-south.
