A 303,713-acre expanse of the southern Sierra Nevada and Kern Plateau, home to the golden trout and the Wild and Scenic North and South Forks of the Kern River amid jagged peaks and forested terrain. Several hundred miles of trails, including 40 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, draw backpackers, horsepackers, and whitewater rafters.
