Imperial Sand Dunes

California's largest sand dune system, stretching 40+ miles in the southeastern desert near Glamis. Managed by the BLM, it offers over 118,000 acres of OHV terrain, a 26,000-acre wilderness, and dramatic dunes rising up to 300 feet.

Fees — Weekly (Off-Site): $55, Weekly (On-Site): $70, Season (Oct 1–Apr 15): $185.
Parking: Designated day-use sites (Osborne Overlook, Plank Road, Buttercup Ranger Station, Watchable Wildlife Area) require no permit; main OHV riding areas require a vehicle recreation permit October 1–April 15. Weekly permits cost $55 when purchased in advance or $70 on-site.. Dogs allowed on leash.
