Lake Tahoe Basin, El Dorado and Placer Counties, California · Recreation Area

The Forest Service unit that manages the 155,000 acres ringing Lake Tahoe, from the 6,225-foot shoreline up to 10,881-foot Freel Peak. Unlike other national forests it is run as one interdependent watershed, and it holds much of the basin's public shoreline, trails and campgrounds.
