The 139,000 acres of old-growth and second-growth coast redwood on the far North Coast, run jointly by the National Park Service and three state parks - Jedediah Smith, Del Norte Coast and Prairie Creek. It holds the tallest trees on Earth along with 40 miles of coastline, the Roosevelt elk herds of Elk Prairie, and Fern Canyon's 50-foot walls of five-finger ferns.
