157,700 acres of coastal mountains running from Griffith Park to Point Mugu, the largest urban national park in the country and a patchwork of National Park Service, state park and conservancy land. The 67-mile Backbone Trail crosses it end to end past Sandstone Peak, and it protects over a thousand archaeological sites including 26 known Chumash pictograph locations.
