A string of eleven Army Corps parks along the lower Stanislaus River from Tuolumne County down to San Joaquin, built as mitigation for the dams upstream. Knights Ferry holds the 330-foot covered bridge, the longest west of the Mississippi and a National Historic Landmark; Valley Oak has walk-in tent sites under the oaks at the water's edge.
